POSITION SUMMARY

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for scheduling direct care providers within the clinical departments. This position also performs various clerical duties requiring excellent organizational skills. This position will support cultural diversity by ensuring that the delivery of quality, equitable and culturally competent patient-centered care is provided; promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity; and ensuring that cultural diversity and sensitivity training is part of new employee orientation on an on-going basis to meet the needs of the patient population served in the hospital.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure adequate staff is available and assist with the replacement of absent personnel. 
  • Coordinate assignments for daily staffing sheets. 
  • Create per pay period staffing schedules.
  • Promotes professional development of the unit staff
  • Participates in the selection and orientation of new staff
  • Provides feedback to staff and clinical managers regarding staff performance issues
  • Assiss with performance evaluations
  • May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
  • May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
  • Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e., before, during or after a disaster.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

A.   Education

  • High school graduate, GED or minimum of 1 year hospital staffing experience
  • BLS certification preferred        

B.  Qualifications/Experience

  • Minimum 1 year hospital staffing or scheduling in a hospital setting preferred

C.   Special Skills/Knowledge        

  • Ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • General office equipment such as telephone, copy/fax/scanner machine and computer
  • Experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Record System or comparable system preferred
