Walmart is growing our Marketplace Platform Engineering team and is looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer – Java to help build and enhance the technology powering millions of customers and thousands of third-party sellers. If you're passionate about developing scalable applications, solving complex technical challenges, and collaborating with talented engineers, we'd love to hear from you!

As a Staff Software Engineer – Java, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the Walmart Marketplace Platform. You'll build robust backend services, contribute to modern cloud-native applications, mentor fellow engineers, and collaborate with Product, UX, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions that support Walmart's growing Marketplace ecosystem.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Build and support microservices and RESTful APIs that power Walmart Marketplace.
  • Develop modern applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Perform hands-on coding, code reviews, debugging, testing, and application performance optimization.
  • Contribute to system architecture and technical design discussions.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX/UI designers, and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
  • Maintain application health through monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvements.
  • Work with cloud-native technologies, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes to build reliable, scalable solutions.
  • Help drive innovation by improving developer tools, shared frameworks, and platform capabilities.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 4+ years of software engineering experience OR

6+ years of software engineering experience.
