Requirements of the Staff Development Registered Nurse (RN):

  • Must possess, as a minimum, an Associates Degree, or BS preferred and completed nursing school

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in this state.

  • Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years experience in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility.

  • Must have experience in supervising, managerial and principles, practice of teaching, etc.

  • Must successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check and physical / drug screen.

Responsibilities of the Staff Development Registered Nurse (RN):

  • Communicate with department directors to determine departmental training needs

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective orientation program that orients the new employee to our infection prevention and control and employee health programs.

  • Provide leadership training that includes the administrative and supervisory principles essential for Nurse Supervisors/Charge Nurses.

  • Report all reportable diseases to the county and state health departments

  • Assist with in-services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence for the nursing staff.

  • Maintains a liaison with the residents, their families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for the residents’ needs in relation to prevention and control of infections.

  • Participate in planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes for CNAs/GNAs and any other nursing personnel that provide instructions on “how to do the job,” and ensure a well-educated nursing service department.

  • Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished.

  • Assist in training department personnel in identifying tasks that involve potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
