Job description

Staff Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a fiber telecommunications company. This role maintains accurate accounting records for Cost of Sale accounts, supports monthly, quarterly and year-end close cycle, and performs account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant works closely with finance, accounting and operation teams to ensure that network-related costs are recorded accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete general ledger account analysis and monthly accrual calculations for Cost of Sale accounts.
  • Prepare and post journal entries with complete supporting documentation.
  • Analyze account balances and variances, research discrepancies, and prepare correcting entries.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities and meet established deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and respond to accounting-related requests.
  • Support ad-hoc accounting projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of general accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accrual accounting.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and follow-through.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Strong ERP skills, Netsuite a plus
