Job description

WIN Waste Innovations is looking for an Accountant II in Portsmouth, NH. The Accountant II will be responsible for the accounting function for the corporate office. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience in accounting with public and/or private companies. This individual will be a strategic thinker with proven ability to be detailed, multi-task and see tasks to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger and financial reporting process for assigned areas, including month-end and year-end closings
  • Prepare journal entries for entry into the general ledger system monthly by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and preparing audit trail support for the journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly accruals and prepaid allocation entries.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations with proper support and backup.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
  • Analyze monthly activity with relevant operational data to provide explanatory information and/or raise questions to finance business partners.
  • Partner with other departments to improve efficiency and accuracy in recording transactions in general ledgers and subledgers.
  • Maintain a strong control environment by following best practices, standards, and procedures across all accounting activities.
  • Supports both internal and external financial audit requests, as well as working paper requests for annual audit.
  • Supports ad-hoc projects as assigned by management.
  • Participate in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports
  • Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services and performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values
  • Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Two or more years of experience with general accounting required

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 or comparable accounting system.
