What is a stadium security?

A Stadium Security job involves ensuring the safety of fans, staff, and players at sports venues and events. Responsibilities include checking tickets, monitoring crowd behavior, conducting bag checks, and responding to incidents or emergencies. Security personnel work closely with law enforcement and event staff to prevent disturbances and maintain order. The role requires strong observation skills, good communication, and the ability to handle stressful situations professionally.

What are some common challenges faced by stadium security staff during major events?

Stadium Security staff often encounter challenges such as managing large, energetic crowds, responding quickly to unexpected situations, and enforcing venue rules while maintaining a positive guest experience. They must remain vigilant for potential security risks, such as unauthorized access or prohibited items, and sometimes need to resolve conflicts among attendees. Teamwork and effective communication with fellow security personnel and event staff are essential for a coordinated response. While these challenges can make the job demanding, they also provide opportunities to develop crisis management and leadership skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in stadium security?

To thrive as a Stadium Security professional, you need a keen awareness of safety protocols, situational assessment skills, physical fitness, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong interpersonal skills, calmness under pressure, and conflict resolution abilities help you effectively interact with large crowds and de-escalate tense situations. These competencies ensure both the safety of event attendees and the smooth operation of stadium events.

What you'll be doing
The Tennessee Titans are looking for an experienced security professional to oversee the stadium's around-the-clock guard staff and loading dock operations by ensuring proper staffing, training, and compliance to keep Nissan Stadium safe and secure at all times.
The Manager, Stadium 24/7 Security and Loading Dock will oversee the stadium's around-the-clock guard staff and its loading dock operations. Working closely with the Senior Security Manager, Event Logistics & Operations, this person ensures guard staff are properly trained and follow the Titans' and Nissan Stadium's security protocols, and that staffing needs are met through the hiring of qualified candidates. • Ensure the 24/7 guard staff hold the proper licensing required by the State of Tennessee, and provide training as needed
  • Resolve issues that arise at any hour, adjusting your own schedule as needed to oversee daily guard staff activities
  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures, and coordinate on-the-job training covering post orientation, routine responsibilities, and emergency response
  • Respond to minor incidents, internal or external, ensuring appropriate action is taken, reports are completed, and the right people are notified promptly
  • Manage CCTV systems and other security technologies used at the stadium
  • Administer security measures and operational support to maintain a safe environment for guests, fans, and employees
  • Oversee quality assurance for all security policies, procedures, and technologies
  • Ensure all security measures comply with state, federal, and league requirements
  • Maintain and implement fire safety, emergency preparedness, and life safety policies and procedures
  • Escalate issues to the Senior Security Manager and Director of Guest Safety as appropriate, including writing incident reports or assisting with investigations as directed
  • Respond to on-site emergencies as they arise
  • Maintain clear communication with the Senior Security Manager and Director of Guest Safety and build strong working relationships with contractors and security partners through regular contact and support
  • Perform other duties as requested or required by the Director of Guest Safety

What you'll bring
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field
  • Possess, or able to obtain, a State of Tennessee unarmed guard license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LEOSA designation
  • CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed, and AED certifications

  • Proven leadership experience in a managerial role
  • Strong ability to lead, understand, and communicate effectively
  • Proactive approach to daily activities and planning
  • Ability to foster a positive, encouraging work environment
  • Skilled at building professional relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

Core Competencies:
  • Accountability: Takes ownership of guard staff performance and loading dock operations around the clock, adjusting personal schedule as needed to resolve issues at any hour. Ensure incident reports, staffing coverage, and licensing compliance are handled promptly and thoroughly.
  • Collaboration: Builds strong working relationships with contractors, security partners, and Nissan Stadium staff to maintain a safe environment. Maintains clear, consistent communication with the Senior Security Manager and Director of Guest Safety.
  • Coaching & Development: Train and develop 24/7 guard staff on post orientation, routine responsibilities, and emergency response procedures. Provides on-the-job training and ensures staff hold proper state licensing.
