Job description

Maintenance Technician - Turf & Grounds Equipment
Transdev Fleet Services in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician - Turf & Grounds Equipment Specialist to support a diverse fleet of mowing, spraying, aeration, utility, and grounds maintenance equipment. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and performance. The successful candidate will support critical campus and stadium operations in a high-visibility environment while maintaining equipment to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Check and adjust reel-to-bedknife contact on reel mowers.
  • Perform oil, filter, and fluid services.
  • Inspect tires, belts, hoses, batteries, and electrical systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
  • Identify potential issues before they become equipment failures.
  • Equipment Repair
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Service and repair gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Troubleshoot steering, braking, hydraulic, and drive systems.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform corrective repairs.
  • Perform adjustments, component replacements, and minor fabrication as required.
  • Turf Equipment Support
  • Perform reel mower adjustments and backlapping.
  • Assist with mowing height adjustments and cutting-quality diagnostics.
  • Support maintenance of aerators, sprayers, bunker rakes, utility vehicles, and tractors.
  • Coordinate specialized services such as reel grinding and balancing when required.
  • Daily Operational Support
  • Conduct pre-use inspections and safety checks.
  • Fuel and prepare equipment for daily operations.
  • Ensure equipment is safe, functional, and ready for service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of equipment maintenance experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and inspections.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize assignments.
  • Experience maintaining turf, grounds, golf course, or landscape equipment.
  • Familiarity with Toro and John Deere equipment.
  • Experience with hydraulic system diagnostics and repair.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Reel mower adjustment and cutting-unit maintenance experience.
  • Experience using maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
