Summary/Objective

The Accounting Manager will at the direction of the Director of Finance oversee the general accounting operations by maintaining, reviewing and verifying financial records or transactions. Performs account reconciliations, event accounting and other account analysis for BJCC accounts. Generates accounting reports. Maintains financial records, analyzing accounts and/or other routine accounting duties. Provides accounting assistance to the Director of Finance. Trains and mentors accounting staff members.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Demonstrates understanding and full performance ability in each of the following:

  • Performs and manages day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, general ledger and treasury activities.
  • Ensures accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present results as required.
  • Train, motivate, and mentor senior accountants and accountants.
  • Provides general accounting assistance in the maintenance and review of financial records including posting transactions, reviewing, collecting and processing invoices for accounts receivable.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Assists in budget preparation by calculating, analyzing and preparing financial and statistical reports for department managers and board of directors.
  • Assist in end of month closing including reconciliation of certain general ledger accounts.
  • Maintains and updates vendor files.
  • Helps prepare monthly financial statements and month end closeouts.
  • Prepares invoices and payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by assisting all roles in the department.
  • Demonstrates an advanced ability to listen, speak, interact tactfully and persuasively, and establish and maintain relationships constructively and cooperatively with BJCC partners, tenants and the public.
  • Demonstrates an ability to independently create or write accurate, legible, grammatically correct reports.
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze and evaluate information and results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Remain up-to-date and aware of accounting best practices, legal requirements and business trends.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Work Environment
This environment is fast paced and moderately demanding. Work is typically performed indoors, in a temperature-controlled office setting.


Physical Demands

Duties require extended periods of sitting. Limited amount of physical effort such as walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling. Ability to lift up to 30lbs with or without assistance, while maintaining good balance. Must be flexible enough to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for brief periods of time. Visual acuity, speech recognition, and speech clarity.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Normally, Monday-Friday regular business hours.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of seven (7) years related knowledge, experience, and skills in accounting, account reconciliations, accounts receivable and maintenance of financial records required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in accounting or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Valid State Driver License.
  • Due to the significant fiduciary responsibilities of this position, the offer will be contingent on an additional satisfactory credit check.

  • Must have excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office and using spreadsheets and accounting software.
