Music Teacher
Position Overview:
The Elementary Music & Library Teacher is responsible for providing music instruction to students in PreK through 8th grade. This position also includes planning and directing two school wide performances annually: a Veteran's Day program and a Christmas program.
Key Responsibilities:
Music Instruction (PK 8):
  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate music instruction for students in grades PK 8.
    • Lesson plans and curriculum mapping
  • Teach music fundamentals including rhythm, melody, harmony, expression, and music appreciation.
  • Incorporate singing, instruments, movement, and basic music theory.
  • Foster a love of music and support student creativity and performance skills.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.

Programs and Performances:
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the annual Veteran's Day and Christmas programs.
    • Veteran's (K-8th): each grade is required to perform one song/poem
    • Christmas (Pk-8th): each grade is required to perform two songs
  • Select appropriate music, organize rehearsals, and collaborate with staff for logistics and production.

Communicate with families regarding student participation and performance details.
Certification/License:
  • State Certification as a Music Teacher preferred.

Education:
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Experience:
  • Successful prior teaching experience in music for the appropriate grade level preferred.
