Overview

Paladin Security is looking for compassionate, professional, and safety-focused Healthcare Security Guards to join our team at St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay.

St. Joseph's Hospital is a specialized rehabilitative care hospital within St. Joseph's Care Group, providing rehabilitation, mental health, addictions, and complex continuing-care services throughout Northwestern Ontario.

In this role, you'll do much more than patrol hallways-you'll become an important member of the healthcare team by supporting staff, assisting patients and visitors, preventing incidents, and helping create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular patrols throughout hospital departments, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
  • Monitor access points to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to emergency calls and security incidents.
  • Assist healthcare staff with distressed patients and visitors using verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
  • Write accurate, detailed, and objective incident reports using digital reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with police, fire, EMS, and other emergency responders when required.
  • Maintain professionalism and situational awareness in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Requirements

Must Have
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certification.
  • Record of immunization for:
    • Measles
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Current 2-Step TB Skin Test
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to write detailed and accurate incident reports.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and respond quickly during emergencies.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
  • Strong customer service skills with a genuine passion for helping others.
