The The O'Shaughnessy Theater at St. Catherine University invites applications for part-time and on-call Front of House staff.
The O'Shaughnessy's usher core staff is made up of St. Kate's students and on-call staff.
This position supports event operations by performing a variety of front-of-house duties. Select team members, per supervisor's discretion, are trained to perform multiple front-of-house roles, including Ticket Office Assistant and Usher. Role assignments vary based on event schedules, attendance, and operational needs, and employees may rotate between responsibilities during a shift or across different events.
Most new hires begin as Ushers. As training is completed and operational needs require, employees may be assigned to additional front-of-house roles, including Ticket Office Assistant.
This position is customer-facing and successful employees typically have an extroverted personality, strong verbal communication skills, and comfort interacting with members of the public.
Minimum Qualifications
• Outgoing and enjoys interaction with the public
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and interpersonal
• Strong customer service skills
• Punctual and reliable
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to think quickly and make decisions promptly
• Ability to react calmly and quickly in stressful situations
• Comfortable with technology
• Able to work weekends and evenings
• Understanding of basic bookkeeping skills, including working with sales (handling cash, making change, giving/keeping receipts), creating deposits, and balancing sales activity per event
• Work with others in a team setting
• Ability to listen and follow directions
• Must be able to climb stairs
• Must be able to stand
• Must be able to lift and carry boxes/items up to 30 lbs
• Able to work independently and be self-starter
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a performing arts venue
• Previous Audience View sales experience a plus, but not required; we will train
