The SRT Concept Propulsion Engineer is responsible for transforming advanced propulsion ideas into technically feasible, CAD-driven concepts that support the development of high-performance powertrain systems. This role operates at the earliest stages of product development, where engine architecture, component packaging, airflow management, thermal strategy, and system integration are defined. The SRT Concept Propulsion Engineer collaborates across propulsion, calibration, CAE, manufacturing, and vehicle engineering teams to establish the technical foundation for future SRT propulsion programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Propulsion System Architecture โ€“ Develop and evaluate propulsion concepts, including engine, induction, exhaust, lubrication, cooling, and accessory drive systems.
  • Advanced CAD Modeling โ€“ Create parametric 3D models, assemblies, and packaging studies that support rapid concept development and design iteration.
  • Engine & Vehicle Packaging โ€“ Develop early packaging layouts to assess engine bay constraints, component interfaces, serviceability, and vehicle integration requirements.
  • Performance-Driven Concept Development โ€“ Generate and evaluate concepts that maximize power density, airflow efficiency, thermal performance, durability, and vehicle performance objectives.
  • Feasibility & Trade Studies โ€“ Assess alternative architectures and component concepts for performance, manufacturability, cost, weight, timing, and risk; document recommendations and technical trade-offs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration โ€“ Partner with propulsion design, CAE, calibration, NVH, manufacturing, materials, and vehicle integration teams to mature concepts and align technical direction.
  • Requirements Translation โ€“ Convert vehicle and propulsion performance targets into actionable design criteria, packaging requirements, and concept solutions.
  • Rapid Iteration โ€“ Develop quick-turn CAD updates, packaging alternatives, and concept variants to support program decision-making.
  • Benchmarking & Competitive Analysis โ€“ Evaluate competitor propulsion technologies, high-performance engines, forced-induction systems, and emerging powertrain solutions to identify innovation opportunities.
  • Technical Documentation โ€“ Prepare concept models, layouts, design reviews, preliminary BOMs, and engineering presentations to communicate concept maturity and recommendations.

Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in propulsion, powertrain, engine systems, or high-performance vehicle development.
  • Strong proficiency with NX, CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD platforms.
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engine systems, air induction, thermal management, structural design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawing standards, and product development processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high-performance engine development, supercharging, turbocharging, hybrid propulsion systems, or advanced air induction systems.
  • Familiarity with engine packaging, vehicle integration, and propulsion system interfaces.
  • Experience supporting CAE activities, including structural, thermal, vibration, or CFD analysis.
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and automotive manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, dyno development, vehicle testing, or motorsports applications.
  • Background in automotive performance, racing, or advanced propulsion system development.
