Job description

Description

At Rankings.io, we're more than just a digital marketing agency— we're a team of specialists who help personal injury law firms get cases in the most competitive markets in the country. We've built a culture where excellence isn't a grind; it's the entire game. As a fully remote, 175+ person team, we believe in empowering each individual with the autonomy, resources, and support they need to do their best work. With 100% employer-paid health insurance, unlimited PTO plus monthly wellness days, a 401(k) 3% company match, and a values-driven culture that prioritizes growth and collaboration, we've created a place where high standards meet high fulfillment.

The Senior Developer is a highly experienced full-stack developer and technical leader responsible for building high-quality WordPress websites for our law firm clients.

This is more than a development role. We're looking for someone who can own complex technical problems, anticipate issues before they become blockers, protect project timelines, and serve as a technical right hand to our Director of Development.

Responsibilities

Full-Stack Development & Technical Ownership

  • Build custom, responsive WordPress websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and Gutenberg, with expert knowledge of WordPress architecture, custom themes/plugins, APIs, databases, integrations, and hosting environments.

  • Audit existing client sites to identify technical issues, dependencies, conflicts, and risks before development begins.

  • Develop reusable themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks, and components.

  • Serve as a technical resource to unblock and support other developers.

Technical Leadership & Quality

  • Act as a right hand to the Director of Development, helping solve complex technical issues and elevate development standards.

  • Be an ambassador for QA, building with a "right the first time" mindset and identifying issues before they reach QA or the client.

  • Review code for functionality, responsiveness, accessibility, performance, browser compatibility, and design fidelity.

  • Identify root causes and improve development and QA practices.

  • Mentor and support other developers while contributing to a culture of ownership and accountability.

Design-Minded Development

  • Translate Figma and other designs into pixel-perfect, polished web experiences.

  • Have strong visual sensibility across typography, spacing, hierarchy, responsive behavior, interactions, and visual details.

  • Independently identify and correct visual inconsistencies.

AI & Emerging Technology

  • Stay current with AI-assisted development and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, functionality, visual experiences, and problem-solving.

  • Evaluate new technologies thoughtfully without sacrificing quality, security, performance, or maintainability.

Timeline, Ownership & Collaboration

  • Own and prioritize work within agency timelines.

  • Proactively communicate blockers, risks, and timeline concerns before they impact delivery.

  • Partner with Design, UX, SEO, PM, and Account teams; clearly communicate technical tradeoffs.

Performance, Security, Accessibility & SEO

  • Optimize for site speed and Core Web Vitals and follow WordPress security best practices.

  • Implement ADA/WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards and technical SEO requirements including schema, indexation, crawlability, and clean architecture.

  • Understand how development decisions impact SEO, lead generation, and the overall user experience.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience, including custom theme and plugin development.

  • Expert-level full-stack development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, WordPress, and Git.

  • Strong understanding of WordPress architecture, Gutenberg, APIs, integrations, databases, and hosting/deployment environments.

  • Experience troubleshooting complex technical environments and issues.

  • Strong understanding of responsive, pixel-perfect design implementation and visual sensibility.

  • Agency or multi-client experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems.

  • Experience mentoring or technically guiding other developers.

  • Experience incorporating AI tools into development workflows or creating AI-enhanced functionality.

  • Portfolio demonstrating high-quality websites and complex development work.

Benefits
  • Starting Salary of $95,000

  • Fully Remote

  • Unlimited PTO

  • $100 Wellness Reimbursement Program

  • Quarterly training stipend for Professional Development

  • 401(k) with 3% Employer match (Safe Harbor)

  • 100% Employer-Paid Health Insurance
