What does a Sr software manager do?

A Sr Software Manager oversees software development teams and projects, ensuring that all software products meet company standards and client needs. They are responsible for planning, coordinating, and guiding the work of developers, testers, and other technical staff. This role often includes setting technical direction, managing budgets and resources, and facilitating communication between stakeholders. Sr Software Managers also play a key role in mentoring team members and implementing best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

Job description

THE ROLE

Join our Systems Software Group to lead an engineering team building the core architectural foundation for our high-performance, highly available enterprise storage portfolio. You will own the strategy and execution for core platform software, driving innovations in Linux kernel integration, hardware enablement, and NVMe fabric protocols. Partnering closely with Product, Hardware, and Release Engineering teams, you will empower your team to deliver predictable, high-quality software releases that define the simplicity and reliability our customers trust.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Engineering Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and empower a high-performing systems software engineering team to deliver robust Linux kernel features, hardware platform enablement, and advanced NVMe fabric protocols.
  • Release Execution & Quality Ownership: Own end-to-end software delivery for core platform releases, partnering with Program Management and Release Engineering to establish clear execution roadmaps, milestone tracking, and phased rollout strategies.
  • Partner & Vendor Technical Management: Direct technical engagements with external vendors and technology partners, ensuring third-party deliverables integrate seamlessly into the core platform architecture to accelerate product delivery.
  • Strategic Alignment & Platform Impact: Align team goals with broader business objectives, converting complex architectural requirements into scalable execution plans that maximize platform performance, system stability, and customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Engineering Management & Leadership: Demonstrated track record of leading, coaching, and growing software engineering teams while remaining engaged in system architecture and technical decision-making.
  • Systems & Storage Architecture Expertise: Deep technical foundation in Linux kernel development or low-level storage and networking protocol development (such as NVMe, NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, or SCSI) on x86 architectures.
  • SDLC & Quality Delivery: Hands-on mastery of full software development lifecycle management, agile methodologies, and continuous integration strategies to deliver complex enterprise-grade software predictably.
  • Core Systems Programming: Proficiency in C/C++ development and automation scripting, with a strong ability to drive technical problem-solving in complex, multi-threaded systems.
  • Work Location Requirement: We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Everpure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
