JOB TITLE: Software Engineer III
REPORTS TO: Software Engineering Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: None
CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS: MUST be US Citizen
CONTRACT TERM: 3 months
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Senior Software Engineer is a full-time exempt position responsible for implementing challenging algorithms, assisting the team lead in story creation, sprint planning, estimations, code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and reporting daily statuses in the context of a collaborative software engineering department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop novel implementations for complex algorithms in C#
Design algorithms to solve complex problems.
Debug, diagnosis, and fix bugs in existing codebases
Create designs based on system requirements
Participate in the peer review process
Apply CS, engineering, and mathematical concepts to the development of software solutions.
Support and participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
Write and review design and test documentation.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERENCE
Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
5+ years experience reviewing, testing, and evaluating source code.
5+ years experience developing in C# or similar (Java).
5+ years experience in the SDLC, including but not limited to requirements capture, design, development, test, EOL support.
5+ years experience working within an Agile development methodology. (Scrum, Kanban, SAFE, etc.)
5+ years' experience with at least one major version control system (Git, SVN, etc.)
3+ years' experience mentoring junior software engineers
3+ years' experience working with Docker containers
3+ years' experience working on front- or back-end components or full stack web development
3+ years' experience working with Atlassian tool suite or similar (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket)
3+ years experience with Linux distros such as Ubuntu or Oracle
Experience with Blazor and .NET 6 and higher, Visual Studio or VS Code is a plus
Experience developing and implementing coding standards for zero-trust and/or mission-critical software
Must have an understanding of networking and networking protocols
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read and produce systems engineering documentation including requirements documents, design documents, test documents, and reports; must be able to proof-read and edit engineering and user manuals. Must have an ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and peers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY
Must have at least a university-level of understanding of arithmetic. Must be able to solve complex logical problems, and understand the processes and solutions used well enough to be able to communicate those to other Engineering staff members.
