Company Overview
P&E Constructors is an employee-owned (ESOP) mechanical and electrical construction firm executing large capital projects with deep roots in the industrial construction sector. Since 1946, we've delivered fabrication and installation services with a commitment to safety, quality, reliability, and client-focused solutions.
Work Location & Travel Expectations
This role supports projects across the United States and requires a high level of travel based on business and project needs. Candidates may be based anywhere within the U.S.; however, the selected individual should be prepared for assignments at various project locations nationwide. Travel for this position may reach up to approximately 90%.
Project assignments generally last 10 to 17 months, depending on project duration ad operational requirements. While assigned to a project away from home, eligible employees are provided per diem to assist with temporary living and travel-related expenses, in addition to a competitive base salary.
To support project deployment, mobilization assistance may be provided, which can include mileage reimbursement or other approved travel support. Employees may also receive extended weekend rotations approximately once per month, allowing additional time for travel home.
Depending on project requirements, eligible employees could be provided with either a company-issued vehicle and fuel card or a vehicle allowance to support travel needs.
Position Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading complex construction and industrial projects through all phases of execution, including estimating, proposal development, project planning, procurement, contract administration, execution management, financial oversight, and project closeout. The Senior Project Manager serves as the primary point of coordination between clients, engineering teams, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual and quality requirements. Key responsibilities include developing execution strategies, managing risk and change processes, overseeing project staffing and reporting, driving client relationships, leading team performance, and mentoring project personnel while supporting continuous business growth and operational improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Establish work breakdown structures (WBS) and develop proposal execution plans, schedules, histograms, and progress curves
  • Drive creation of material procurement and contracting plans
  • Review estimates for compliance with engineering requirements, risk evaluation, contingency planning, material pricing, and subcontract pricing
  • Compile indirect staffing plans, organizational charts, construction equipment plans, temporary facilities, and construction services plans for estimating purposes
  • Participate in estimate review processes and conduct final proposal review presentations for leadership approval
  • Support Business Development with scope definition and submit proposals to clients
  • Initiate and lead premobilization meetings while ensuring completion of premobilization requirements
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and define project work packages
  • Prepare and submit project submittals to engineers and complete commercial handovers with estimating and proposal teams
  • Review contracts, coordinate legal review, prepare contract summaries, and conduct leadership contract reviews
  • Staff projects with professional personnel and develop procurement and contracting plans
  • Establish commercial baselines including budgets, revenue forecasts, cash flow projections, and "as sold" margins
  • Develop and maintain baseline schedules, progress plans, fabrication tracking, and resource histograms
  • Lead material procurement and subcontract buyout activities
  • Implement and manage risk management and change management programs
  • Establish project meeting cadence and develop daily, weekly, and monthly reporting structures
  • Submit welding procedure specifications (WPS) for customer approval and initiate site-specific quality and safety plans
  • Lead internal and external kickoff meetings and participate in Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) processes with construction management and engineering teams
  • Chair and lead weekly and monthly project reviews, schedule reviews, and change management meetings with internal and client teams
  • Ensure contractual compliance and process all project changes in accordance with change management procedures
  • Monitor project progress, performance, budgets, financial reporting, and billing processes to ensure project success
  • Oversee material management and subcontract administration in compliance with execution plans and company procedures
  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards and site-specific safety programs
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget while managing all project closeout documentation and financial closeout activities
  • Coordinate issuance of system and facility completion letters and ensure all contractual notifications are provided to owners
  • Complete project closeout reports, conduct lessons learned meetings, and communicate findings across the organization
  • Lead team meetings and oversee all project planning, organization, workload management, and execution activities
  • Maintain strong client relationships and conduct regular meetings to discuss ongoing and future business opportunities
  • Collaborate with Business Development teams regarding future opportunities identified through client relationships
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor project teams while setting expectations, measuring performance, and implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Make timely, high-quality business decisions that support departmental and organizational goals
  • Provide training, coaching, and professional development support to team members
  • Assist Business Leaders with process improvements, onboarding new Project Managers, and mentoring Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Manage complex and challenging projects while demonstrating leadership and accountability throughout project execution

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years' experience in heavy industrial construction industry and commercial management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Trong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Mastery of PM tools (Primavera P6, COINS, Procore, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
