Job description

Objective
The Sr. Program Manager in Sheboygan WI is responsible for launching all new programs, engineering changes, process changes, coordinating projects with other functional departments, simultaneous engineering with customers, customer engineering approvals, manufacturing and product engineering services assuring a profitable, cost effective and timely service to the customers and the Nemak operating plant. This position is responsible to oversee all programs within the structural engineering group.
Main Responsibilities
  • Supports preparation of formal quotes for new and revised programs to develop tooling and capital budgets. Responsible to complete CR's, purchase requisition, invoice approval, tooling Completion Notices.
  • Directs the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Nemak Program Development System (NPDS) to ensure timely and successful launch of all new programs meeting or exceeding the customer expectations. Leads and approves manufacturing feasibility analysis reviews. Defines critical product/process variables and develops capability requirements/specification and run-off criteria for all programs. Determines the priority of department projects, and oversees projects to assure timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Reviews customer requests for quotations, leads the program manager to determine process flow, die cast and secondary equipment operational specifications as input into the quoting process.
  • Defines, develops, documents, seeks approval from upper management, monitors and controls the program budgets. Reviews and approves purchase requests and supplier invoices.
  • Supports corporate purchasing group in reviewing die cast and machine tools suppliers to assess their capability in new technology and to meet tooling and equipment delivery and quality requirements.
  • Leads product design input to Customer designers and feasibility assessment as related to good manufacturing practices and robust product design.
  • Develops and mentors departmental personnel with goals to increase the technical capabilities and ability to service manufacturing needs. Develops performance objectives for personnel within the department, monitors and measures performance to objectives, reviews performance on an annual basis and defines/deploys improvement plans though structured training programs. Assists/participates in recruitment of new employees and disciplining/discharging of personnel, as required.
  • Deploys all company policies and procedures within the department.

Position Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or relevant field
  • 7-10 years' of relevant experience
  • Strong English communication skills both verbal and written
  • Must have a working knowledge of finance
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of HPDC casting or steel stamping process strongly preferred
