Job description

Description

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support the development, troubleshooting, optimization, and sustainment of enterprise-scale Oracle database applications and data integration solutions. This role is heavily focused on hands-on Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development, production issue resolution, script remediation, ad hoc data analysis, and the maintenance of critical data feeds and integration endpoints. The ideal candidate combines deep Oracle development expertise with strong database troubleshooting and performance tuning experience, along with working knowledge of Oracle administration technologies that support high-availability production environments. In this role, you will work closely with developers, DBAs, infrastructure teams, application owners, and business stakeholders to resolve complex production issues, optimize database performance, support application releases, and maintain data integrations leveraging Oracle, Apache NiFi, AWS services, APIs, and file-based interfaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Debug, analyze, and resolve complex Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, data-processing, and production-support issues across development, test, and production environments.
  • Review, refactor, optimize, and maintain SQL and PL/SQL code, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, batch jobs, and database interfaces.
  • Develop ad hoc queries and scripts to support investigations, reporting, reconciliation efforts, data validation, operational requests, and issue resolution activities.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise data feeds and integrations involving Oracle databases, Apache NiFi, AWS services, APIs, file-based transfers, and dependent applications.
  • Investigate failed data flows, perform root-cause analysis, reconcile source and target system discrepancies, and coordinate remediation efforts across technical teams.
  • Tune SQL and PL/SQL workloads using execution-plan analysis, indexing strategies, partitioning, optimizer statistics, and Oracle performance diagnostic tools.
  • Support production deployments, database releases, post-deployment validation activities, and operational readiness processes.
  • Partner with Oracle DBAs to support RAC environments, backup and recovery operations, Data Guard configurations, security controls, monitoring activities, and incident response efforts.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, support runbooks, and operational process documentation.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience developing and supporting Oracle Database solutions, including advanced SQL and PL/SQL development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; four years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience troubleshooting production issues, tuning database performance, and supporting high-volume data processing environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise integrations utilizing Apache NiFi, AWS services, APIs, and file-based data exchanges.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle RAC, RMAN, Data Guard, database security, and software release management practices.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Oracle Exadata, Database Vault, Oracle Label Security, or other advanced Oracle technologies.
  • Experience supporting large-scale data migration, conversion, or reconciliation efforts.
  • Familiarity with Oracle performance and diagnostic tools, including AWR, ASH, ADDM, TKPROF, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Understanding of database design, data modeling, and scalable application architecture.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Requirements
