The Wellness & Engagement Coordinator has the responsibility to plan and coordinate programs and activities to provide life enriching events for residents and the community. Strengthen community involvement through promotion of volunteerism among members of the community and residents. The goal of resident programs is to enhance residents’ living experience within their community, enhance their quality of life and promote their overall well-being. The Wellness & Engagement Coordinator must always present a cheerful, helpful attitude in his/her work with the public.

SALARY: $17.00

SENIOR LIVING WELLNESS & ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Recreational Therapy preferred with certificates required in senior exercise, balance training, brain fitness for seniors and personal training
  • Experience in activity planning with older adults preferred
  • Valid state Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to drive 14 passenger bus
  • Appreciation of older adults and ability to build relationships with them
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Experience working with volunteer groups
  • Demonstrated team oriented and collaborative work style and willingness to assist team mates as needed to get the job done
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to adapt communication style to audience
  • Exceptional ability to create, organize, prioritize and multi-task in an extremely dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of fire, safety, and infection control procedures


SENIOR LIVING WELLNESS & ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Implement fitness & wellness programs and engagement that enrich whole-person wellness in the following categories: physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and special requests of the residents
  • Facilitate socialization among residents
  • Invite and remind residents to participate in planned activities
  • Promote wellness & engagement in a way that generates residents’ interests
  • Greet visitors in a friendly, courteous and professional manner
  • Chaperone activities outside the residence
  • Conduct and lead activities
  • Visit with each new resident to identify hobbies and interests
  • Maintain a resident information book identifying hobbies and interests of each resident
  • Plan, coordinate and appropriately decorate the residence for special events, seasons and holidays
  • Identify and order necessary supplies for planned activities, within the guidelines of the budget
  • Assist with coordinating food requirements for scheduled activities with dining associates
  • Assist with planning and implementing marketing events that promote the community to prospective residents
  • Assist the Wellness & Engagement Director with the monthly newsletter for residents and family members
  • Arrange transportation for activity outings and regularly scheduled group trips
  • Drive the company vehicle for resident activities and appointments, as needed
  • Assist in serving meals, clearing tables and clean up after meals, as needed
  • Identify and contact local organizations that could benefit from the talents of residents
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Wellness & Engagement Director or General Manager

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS/TRAVEL REQUIRMENTS:

  • Working hours are as agreed with the Wellness & Engagement Director. Weekend duty can be expected
  • Working conditions will be both in and outdoors. Inclement weather conditions may be experienced
  • Convey a positive and professional image to residents, family members, visitors and co-workers
  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, residents, and families and visitors
  • Ability and knowledge to use gym fitness equipment with the physical requirements being met to allow use and continued training as needed
  • Fitness and balance training require hands-on work with the residents and proper lifting and motion policies must be followed
  • Possible exposure to unpleasant odors
  • Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual
  • Possible exposure to verbal aggression from vendors, guests, residents and/or family members.
  • Continuous exposure to clients and/or family members who may be under stress
  • Work may involve lifting resident luggage or grocery bags (up to 50 pounds, using proper body mechanics)
  • Mobility is necessary to sit, stand, walk and tour the community by foot
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs
