We are seeking a technical and customer-focused Solutions Consultant to join our team. The Solutions Consultant will be responsible for understanding customer business environments, actively identifying potential roadblocks, and providing thoughtful solutions that leverage PagerDuty's products. They will run the technical discovery process and provide guidance, relationship-building, and support throughout the sales process to ensure customer success.
As a Solutions Consultant at PagerDuty, you'll sit at the nexus between pre-sales, sales, and customer experience and success. You are an extraordinary partner who plays the part of consultant, technical salesperson, technical guru, product specialist, and teacher, with a committed dedication to exceptional customer service. You will build strong, significant, and compassionate relationships with internal and external partners at all levels while helping customers realize and optimize PagerDuty's capabilities.
Key responsibilities
  • Actively identify potential roadblocks and provide thoughtful, technical solutions
  • Run technical discovery processes to understand customer environments and potential technical landmines
  • Design integrations to provide seamless implementation with the customer's current technology stack
  • Support sales cycles by handling technical questions in RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires
  • Break down complex technical concepts and clearly articulate PagerDuty's business value to stakeholders from DevOps engineers up to C-level executives
  • Support one of our over 375+ native integrations to help customers realize and optimize PagerDuty's capabilities
  • Partner with sales, product, and cross-functional teams with a focus on growth and exceptional customer service
  • Manage multiple tasks independently and collaboratively using project management and account management skills
  • Come up to speed quickly, learn continuously, and apply impeccable attention to detail to all tasks
Basic qualifications
  • 5+ years of pre-sales experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a technical field
  • Ability to do basic scripting (Java, PHP, Ruby, Perl) and a fundamental knowledge of Linux
  • Experience selling SaaS in a fierce environment
  • Strong communication skills to build and manage relationships with new and existing clients, with a focus on growth
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IT monitoring tools or IT Operations
  • Excellent at multi-tasking, self-driven, and able to work both independently and with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as necessary
Preferred qualifications
  • Understanding of monitoring systems such as New Relic, Nagios, Zenoss, Splunk, ServiceNow, and Zabbix
  • Familiarity and knowledge of PagerDuty's space, or already being a fan of our product
  • Experience in both enterprise and commercial sales

The base salary range for this position is 144,000 - 197,200 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.
Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
