Sr Full Stack Dot Net Developer information

What is a Sr Full Stack Dot Net Developer?

A Sr Full Stack Dot Net Developer is an experienced software engineer who designs, develops, and maintains both front-end and back-end components of web applications using Microsoft’s .NET framework and related technologies. They are proficient in languages like C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and often work with databases such as SQL Server. Senior developers not only write code but also make architectural decisions, mentor junior team members, and ensure the security, scalability, and performance of applications. Their role requires a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Sr Full Stack Dot Net Developer?

To thrive as a Sr Full Stack Dot Net Developer, you need deep expertise in C#, ASP.NET, front-end frameworks (like Angular or React), and strong knowledge of database design, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Proficiency in Visual Studio, SQL Server, source control systems like Git, and familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is essential, with certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate being advantageous. Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills help developers collaborate effectively and adapt to changing project requirements. These skills and qualities are vital to deliver robust, scalable solutions that meet business needs in complex, fast-paced development environments.

What are some common challenges a Sr Full Stack Dot Net Developer faces when balancing backend and frontend responsibilities?

As a Sr Full Stack Dot Net Developer, one of the main challenges is effectively managing the demands of both backend and frontend development, especially when projects require deep expertise in multiple technologies. Staying up-to-date with the latest frameworks, such as ASP.NET Core for backend and popular JavaScript libraries for frontend, can be time-consuming. Additionally, collaborating with specialized team members—like UX designers or DevOps engineers—requires strong communication to ensure seamless integration and deployment. Balancing these aspects while meeting project deadlines is a key part of the role.

Job description

See what you can do with Prophix

At Prophix, we’re building the platform that helps finance teams stop managing spreadsheets and start driving strategy. Prophix One™ brings planning, reporting, consolidation, and automation together in a single place, and we are expanding its AI capabilities faster than ever. If you want to work on a product that genuinely changes how finance teams operate, and do it alongside people who care about getting it right, this is where you want to be.

We’re headquartered in the Greater Toronto Area, with teams and offices across North America, Europe, and Australia. Trusted by more than 3,000 finance teams across 100+ countries, Prophix One™ is built for organisations that want to plan smarter and move faster.

As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer on the FP&A Plus platform, you will design, build, and maintain the modular .NET capabilities that more than 2,500 finance teams around the world rely on every day for budgeting, reporting, and integrated financial planning. Working within a collaborative agile team alongside engineers, product managers, and QA specialists, you will own meaningful slices of a large, domain-driven modular-monolith — shipping high-quality, testable code that directly shapes how finance professionals plan and make decisions. This is a role for an engineer who takes pride in correctness, cares about architecture, and wants their work to matter at scale.

Requirements

What You Will Do

  • Design and build new features within one or more FP&A Plus bounded-context modules (budgeting, workflow, reporting, journal management, data import, and more), following established Abstractions / implementation / UnitOfWork / UnitTests patterns.
  • Write efficient, correct data-access code against AWS Aurora Serverless (PostgreSQL), applying a clear understanding of its auto-scaling capacity model, connection-pooling behaviour, and timeout semantics rather than assuming fixed-capacity database behaviour.
  • Build and consume event-driven integrations using AWS SQS via MassTransit and scheduled workflows via Quartz.NET as part of cross-module feature delivery.
  • Apply the platform's module-flag-based authorization model correctly when building new endpoints or MCP tools that interact with tenant data.
  • Ensure quality through automated testing with xUnit, Moq, and FluentAssertions in a continuous integration environment, including integration tests tagged for the DB-integration test suite where appropriate.
  • Investigate and resolve defects across pre-production, production, and post-release patches with thorough root-cause analysis rather than surface-level fixes.
  • Contribute to code reviews, architecture discussions, and performance tuning of data-heavy operations within your module area.
  • Coordinate cross-module technical dependencies, clearly defining and respecting cross-module contracts in a large, distributed modular system.

What You Will Bring

We hire for potential as much as experience. If this role excites you but you don’t check every box, we still want to hear from you. At Prophix, people who ask good questions, adapt quickly, and bring a fresh perspective often make the biggest impact.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience building production-grade distributed applications.
  • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET/Core, with hands-on experience using PostgreSQL and Entity Framework (or a comparable ORM/data-access pattern).
  • Demonstrated expertise in microservices or modular-monolith architectures and domain-driven design patterns.
  • Cloud-native AWS experience with services including Lambda, SQS, Aurora Serverless (PostgreSQL), and S3.
  • Proficiency in both Windows and Linux environments for developing and managing complex distributed systems.
  • Solid command of Git source control and continuous integration tooling.
  • Practiced in unit and integration testing with an agile and test-driven development mindset.
  • Post-secondary degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the country where this role is located
  • Comfortable using AI tools responsibly to support tasks such as research, drafting, and data review
  • Able to learn new tools and adapt as technology and workflows evolve.
  • Curious, open to new approaches, and motivated to continuously improve.
  • Collaborative mindset when working across teams and with AI supported tooling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating PostgreSQL on a serverless or auto-scaling managed offering such as AWS Aurora Serverless at production scale.
  • Exposure to OLAP or multi-dimensional data models, and/or event-driven architecture (message queues, pub/sub) beyond basic usage.
  • Understanding of identity and access management principles including OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, SSO, and MFA.
  • Experience building or consuming LLM/agent tooling (MCP or comparable) — an emerging and actively growing area of the Prophix platform.
  • Academic or practical knowledge of corporate financial concepts such as planning, budgeting, forecasting, or consolidation.

Benefits

What Success Looks Like

  • 30 days: You know our platform, our customers, and how your team operates. You’ve completed onboarding and are contributing to live work.
  • 90 days: You’re working independently, owning deliverables end to end, and building relationships across functions and regions.
  • 6 months: Your fingerprints are on something real. You’ve improved a process, shipped something meaningful, or earned a seat at the table on a decision that matters.

Why Join Prophix?

Prophix is headquartered in the GTA, so joining our team puts you close to where decisions are made, strategy is set, and careers are built. You’ll collaborate across North America, Europe, and Australia, developing breadth you simply can’t get at a single market company. Our people move across functions, work directly with customers in different industries, and take on meaningful challenges early.  We’re a company that competes on talent. That means we invest in the people who show up curious, move fast, and want to leave things better than they found them. Our values are Pursue Excellence, Build with Purpose, Create Wins for All, and Drive Continuous Innovation, and they guide how we actually make decisions.

Compensation

The total target compensation for this role is $145,000CAD to $165,000CAD, in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, location, and internal equity.

What’s Included for You?

  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental-health coverage
  • Retirement savings with employer contributions
  • Parental leave top-up
  • Annual wellness allowance
  • Generous paid time off including vacation and sick time
  • Education assistance and tuition reimbursement
  • Social events, team activities, and opportunities to build community
  • Opportunities to participate in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives
  • Quarterly Town Halls and Kickoffs that bring teams together to celebrate wins, share updates, and look ahead at what’s next
