This role is responsible for electrical design ownership across the full product lifecycleโ€”from concept development through fabrication, integration, and testโ€”ensuring all designs meet performance, safety, and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong analytical skills, practical design experience, and the ability to lead technical efforts while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Experience in the aviation or aerospace industry is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support electrical and electronic systems for LTA platforms and ground support facilities.
  • Lead electrical design efforts across multiple functional areas, including:
    • Instrumentation and control systems
    • Electrical power generation and distribution
    • Communications systems
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Provide technical leadership inย electrical power system design, including:
    • Transformer design and specification
    • Power system modeling, analysis, and optimization
    • Electrical load characterization, capacity planning, and load factor analysis
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics and drawings using schematic capture tools.
  • Generate production-ready engineering documentation to support manufacturing and assembly.
  • Support system integration, troubleshooting, and verification testing, including first-article builds in a production environment.
  • Plan, conduct, and present electrical design reviews to demonstrate compliance with customer, program, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Travel occasionally to TCOMโ€™s manufacturing facility in North Carolina to support production and test activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum ofย 10 years of electrical design experienceย involving electrical and electronic assemblies.
  • Aviation or aerospace industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise inย electrical power system design, analysis, and optimization.
  • Experience producing production-level engineering documentation for manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience supporting system integration and testing, including first-article builds.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, senior leadership, and technical teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance preferred but not required.

In compliance with state and local laws, the salary range for this role is $130,000 - $170,000.
