Join Altera as a Senior Director, Business Development! The Senior Director, Business Development is responsible for:

Business Development

  • Partner with vertical marketing teams who own segment strategy to execute go-to-market plans across Altera's core segments

  • Lead business development efforts in strategically important segments including industrial, communications, data center, military/aerospace/government, and emerging markets such as AI/edge and robotics

  • Identify whitespace opportunities within and adjacent to existing verticals; build business cases for investment and entry

  • Own and drive design win targets across all assigned verticals, from early opportunity identification through socket closure

  • Partner with Sales, FAE, and Product Line Management to build and execute a robust design win pipeline, ensuring Altera solutions are designed into next-generation platforms and programs

  • Establish and expand partnerships with OEMs, system integrators, ISVs, and channel partners within each vertical

  • Negotiate strategic agreements and joint go-to-market programs that accelerate Altera's design-win pipeline

  • Champion key strategic accounts at the executive level, accelerating design cycles and expanding Altera's footprint within customer platforms

  • Serve as executive sponsor for key vertical industry forums, standards bodies, and trade associations

Marketing

  • Partner with broad-based marketing teams to develop campaigns, content, and event strategies that support company-wide positioning and demand generation

  • Collaborate with Product Management and R&D to surface market requirements that inform the product roadmap

  • Provide input to Business Management team to track and report design win metrics, conversion rates, and long-term revenue ramp projections to executive leadership

Salary Range

The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 15+ years of experience in business development, product marketing, product management, sales, strategic planning, or related roles within the semiconductor, FPGA, embedded systems, computing, networking, communications, aerospace, defense, industrial, or adjacent technology industries.

  • Proven experience developing and executing go-to-market strategies and business growth initiatives.

  • Demonstrated success driving revenue growth, design wins, strategic partnerships, and customer adoption.

  • Strong understanding of semiconductor technologies, embedded systems, FPGA solutions, ASICs, SoCs, or related hardware and software platforms.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and Executive Leadership teams.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and build relationships at all organizational levels, including C-suite customers and partners.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, customer requirements, and financial business cases.

  • Experience managing complex opportunities from initial engagement through successful commercialization.

  • Willingness to travel as needed to support customers, partners, industry events, and strategic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced technical degree.

  • Experience within the FPGA, semiconductor, AI, data center, networking, communications, aerospace/defense, robotics, or industrial automation markets.

  • Existing relationships with leading OEMs, hyperscalers, system integrators, defense contractors, or strategic ecosystem partners.
