Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Controls Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot control systems supporting a large-scale manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas.

The position will support utilities and building systems critical to manufacturing operations, including process utilities, HVAC, electrical systems, and building automation. The Senior Controls Engineer will collaborate with Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, and Construction teams to improve system efficiency, reliability, safety, and overall performance.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for utility and building systems supporting production facilities and infrastructure.
  • Support process utilities, HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
  • Program and configure Siemens PLCs and HMIs using TIA Portal.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify control system issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Define control system requirements and develop implementation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain control system documentation, including schematics, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex control system issues.
  • Support sensor setup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and calibration.
  • Drive improvements related to energy efficiency, sustainability, system reliability, and facility automation.
  • Work closely with cross-functional Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, and Construction teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in control systems design, implementation, commissioning, and maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience programming Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal.
  • Strong experience with HMI programming and development.
  • Experience with SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Modbus, RS232/485, and BACnet.
  • Experience with sensors, instrumentation, commissioning, and calibration.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA.
  • Experience with Python, C++, or Java.
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with HVAC controls, process utilities, electrical controls, or building automation systems.
  • Experience supporting controls infrastructure in a large-scale manufacturing facility.

Candidates must be willing to work onsite in Austin, Texas. The position will begin as a contract engagement with the potential for conversion to full-time employment based on performance, business requirements, and mutual agreement
