Job description

SQL Server DBA Austin, TX (Onsite 4-5 days/week) local only. Long-Term Contract Preferred state exp 8+ years of SQL Server DBA experience with strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, backup & recovery, security, SSIS/ETL, SSRS, Azure SQL, migrations/upgrades, job scheduling, and troubleshooting in large-scale environments. Candidates must be located in the Austin area at the time of submission. Looking for an experienced SQL Server DBA to support and maintain a large-scale database environment. This role will be responsible for ensuring the performance, stability, and security of over 100 SQL Server databases across multiple servers. Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor database performance and system health (CPU, memory, I/O)
  • Identify and optimize slow-running queries, indexes, and execution plans
  • Review SQL Server and Windows logs to detect and resolve issues
  • Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, and scheduled tasks
  • Troubleshoot SSRS reporting issues and provide production support
  • Handle user access, permissions, and database security
  • Support database migrations and upgrades across SQL Server versions
  • Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities
  • Conduct index analysis and manage storage/space utilization
  • Work with teams on ETL processes and SSIS package updates
  • Assist developers with query tuning, schema design, and code reviews
  • Participate in team meetings and documentation/knowledge sharing
