Job description

As a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician / Inspector,you will be responsible for testing, maintaining, repairing & inspecting fire sprinkler systems, ensuring they are functioning correctly and compliant with all applicable codes and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of fire sprinkler systems, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Service Tech Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fire sprinkler systems, including inspecting and replacing sprinkler heads, valves, and other components.
  • Troubleshoot and repair fire sprinkler system malfunctions, including leaks, faulty valves, and other issues.
  • Conduct flow tests and other required tests to ensure system performance.
  • Install and repair fire sprinkler system components as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, explaining system operation and any necessary repairs.
  • Maintain company vehicles and equipment in good working order.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Stay up to date on the latest fire sprinkler technologies, codes, and regulations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service.

Inspection Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular inspections of fire protection systems.
    • Sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge)
    • Fire pumps and controllers
    • Standpipe systems
    • Emergency lighting systems
    • Portable fire extinguishers
    • Backflows
  • Identify deficiencies and non-compliance issues and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, test results, and recommendations.
  • Interpret and apply relevant fire codes and standards, such as NFPA, IFC, and local regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with building owners, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding fire safety requirements and inspection results.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Qualifications:
  • Proven 5+ years experience with knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, inspection, testing, and maintenance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to operate a computer, tablet and read electronic blueprints required.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve system issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • NICET or State certification helpful
  • FASA BASA Certification
  • BuildingReports software experience preferred.
  • ServiceTrade software experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fire codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, IFC, IBC).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work on a ladder.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
Schedule: 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday
