Job Description

Summary/Objective

The Fireproofing Sprayer is a key role responsible for the accurate and efficient application of fireproofing materials to structural elements, ensuring compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations. This position requires a high level of precision, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret shop drawings to achieve the correct material thickness and consistency. The Sprayer plays a critical role in maintaining structural integrity through proper fireproofing techniques while promoting a safe and clean work environment. Successful candidates will possess strong technical skills in equipment operation, material application, and job site coordination, contributing directly to project quality and timelines.

Essential Functions

Material Application:

• Conduct daily yield and density measurements to ensure accurate material application and compliance with project specifications.

• Apply fireproofing materials using spray equipment, trowels, or brushes to achieve uniform coverage and required thickness.

• Verify material thickness using depth gauges and adjust as needed to ensure compliance with project specifications.

• Perform daily yield and density measurements to confirm the correct material application and optimize usage.

• Maintain consistent spray patterns and techniques to ensure the quality and durability of the fireproofing application.

Site Preparation & Maintenance:

• Perform regular maintenance and thorough cleaning of spray nozzles and injectors to maintain

optimal equipment performance.

• Prepare surfaces for fireproofing applications by cleaning, masking, and protecting non-targeted areas.

• Assist in the setup of scaffolding, ladders, hoses, and protective barriers to create a safe and efficient work environment.

• Maintain compliance with all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to job site protocols.

• Assist in job site preparation, including the setup of hoses, protective barriers, and any required safety equipment.

• Install protective barriers and coverings to shield surrounding areas from overspray.

• Clean and prepare surfaces to ensure optimal adhesion of fireproofing materials.

• Perform daily cleanup of overspray, trash, and debris to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Maintain clean and organized work areas.

• Ensure that all work areas are free from hazards and comply with safety regulations by adhering to site safety protocols.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all equipment, including mixers, pumps, spray nozzles, and injectors.

• Perform routine inspections and schedule preventive maintenance to avoid equipment malfunctions.

• Safely manage the unloading and storage of materials using forklifts and pallet jacks.

• Follow proper storage protocols to extend the lifespan of tools and materials.

Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.

• Consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and safety goggles.

• Participate in safety training sessions and toolbox talks to remain current on safety protocols.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of material usage, yield, and density measurements.

Team Collaboration:

• Communicate clearly and efficiently with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth project execution, demonstrating a strong ability to follow instructions.

• Assist colleagues with additional construction-related tasks as needed, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

• Actively seek guidance and feedback from senior team members to continuously develop and enhance skills.

Competencies

• Interpret and analyze shop drawings to accurately execute fireproofing applications according to project requirements.

• Comfortable working at heights and in diverse weather conditions.

Supervisory responsibilities

• Direct supervision of assigned crew.

Physical demands

• Exposure to working outdoors in varying environments, including high heat, cold temperatures, and other weather-related conditions.

Travel required

Preferred education and experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Prior experience in construction or related field preferred.

• Familiarity with fireproofing materials and application techniques is a plus.

• OSHA 30 Certification preferred.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license/ID and reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (citizenship or valid work visa required).

• U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.

• Ability to obtain and maintain an active

Confidential/Secret/Top Secret/SCI security clearance (if applicable).
