Job description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Youth Sports Official is responsible for officiating youth sports programs that are offered in a manner consistent with the parameters established by the YMCA of Greater Louisville. This responsibility also includes supervising practices throughout the season.  The Youth Sports Official is also responsible for maintaining the fields and gyms in a safe, efficient fashion while promoting a good relationship with program participants, members and staff.  The Youth Sports Official is required to monitor all policies, procedures for all programs, volunteers and staff involved.  A sincere interest and enjoyment in working with and teaching youth the principles of sports as well as Christian values must be shown.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum age of 15.
  • Team player with personal commitment to YMCA Mission, Philosophy & Character Development Values.
  • Experience working with youth ages 3-14 preferred, if not will train. 
  • Athletic background preferred. 
  • Personable, outgoing, and service oriented.
  • Ability to resolve issues or conflicts on the field
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • 10-20 hours per week (Must be available weekends)
  • Extremely organized, accurate, and proficient.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid (within first 90 days).
  • Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature. 

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to hear, see, speak
  • Lift 50lbs
  • Jog up and down a field/court.
