POSITION SUMMARY
The Sports Information Assistant supports the strategic communications, marketing, and game operations of the Athletics and Campus Recreation departments. This position is responsible for developing engaging digital content, managing athletics and recreation social media platforms and websites, coordinating media relations and event coverage, and enhancing the game-day experience through video board production and live streaming. The role assists with sports information operations, statistical reporting, publications, and supervision of student staff while providing operational support for athletic contests and campus recreation services. This position collaborates with coaches, staff, students, and campus partners to promote departmental initiatives, strengthen brand visibility, and ensure the successful execution of athletic events and recreation programs.
Supervision Received/Exercised:
This position reports to the Sports Information Director and supervises student assistants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collaborate with Sports Information Director and coordinate team photos, headshots, media days, and other numerous media opportunities.
- Assist student workers and community workers for all home contests.
- Assist with weekly "Scots of the Week" website feature.
- Manage X, Instagram, and Facebook, along with other platforms which can include: INFLCR, the athletics website, and others as needed.
- Produce social media and website graphics daily.
- Provide video board support for and coordinate video board presentations at all athletics events.
- Facilitate the design and development of athletics publication, including recruiting guides, video streaming, programs and promotions.
- Assists in coordination all video streaming of athletics events.
- Create all video and audio content for video board(s), including game presentation scripts, headshots, graphics and all other media associated with athletic events, including advertising.
- Coordinate and operate the video board at all athletic events with the scorer's table and game video personnel.
- Available for all athletic events/tournaments to assist/manage.
- Event setup and tear down for all athletics events.
- Assist with statistics for multiple athletics events, using multiple stating platforms. This can include NCAA Live Stats (NLS), Genius, PrestoSports, etc.
- Assist with scheduling and supervision of sports information/events student workers.
- Oversee all social media and marketing for the Rec Center, including graphic development, posting on all social media outlets, and all external communications.
- Manage the Rec Center website and update information consistently.
- Oversee the Rec Desk management system for the department.
- Manage training of all new student staff in the Rec Center.
- Oversee the daily reconciliation of transaction reports and business operations.
- Assist Sports Information Director and Director of Campus Recreation with day-to-day operations and serve on the athletics administrative team
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Strong writing skills

- Ability to multitask
- Video skills (shooting and editing), and knowledge of graphic design elements
- Must be able to work under pressure and on tight deadlines
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
