Job description

Title: Gameday Statistician

VP Area: Athletics

Department: Athletic Communications

Published Salary Range: Up to 20.00 an hour

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Gameday Statistician works as part of the official scorers' team for Laker Athletics Events. Employees may work as spotters, official scorekeeper (called "the book"), PC input operators for NCAA Live Stats, shot clock operators, and other duties as assigned to the scoring and operation of games.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Live Game Tracking: Attend scheduled games and accurately record real-time statistics for both individual players and the team.
Data Entry and Management: Input collected statistics into designated software or databases, ensuring accuracy and integrity of the data.
Communication: Effectively communicate statistical insights.
Software Proficiency: Utilize relevant sports statistics software for data entry, analysis, and report generation.

Rule Familiarity: Maintain a thorough understanding of gameplay rules and statistical scoring regulations.
Accuracy and Detail: Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of all recorded and reported statistics.
Timely Reporting: Provide reports and analysis in a timely manner to facilitate effective decision-making.
Data Integrity: Ensure the integrity and accuracy of collected data through rigorous quality control processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

A working knowledge of basketball, hockey, and/or volleyball

Strong Communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with NCAA rules and terminology is required. Training will be provided as needed, but candidates should possess a basic understanding of NCAA regulations and terminology.

Work Hours:

  • Laker Athletics Events.
  • Employees must arrive a minimum of one hour before the start of the event.
