Sports Manager/Tournament Sales - Jackson County Sports & Events Complex
Property Location
The Jackson County Sports & Events Complex is a premier, multi-use indoor facility currently under development in Central Point, Oregon, with a targeted opening of January 2027. Spanning approximately 118,000 square feet, the facility is being designed as a flexible, high-performance venue capable of hosting a wide range of sports, community programming, and large-scale events.
The complex will feature a combination of indoor hard courts, and adaptable event areas, allowing it to support youth and amateur sports tournaments, local recreation programming, and regional events. In addition to its sports-focused design, the facility includes multiple meeting and event rooms, positioning it to host conventions, community gatherings, and non-sporting events-creating a true year-round community asset.
A unique component of the facility is its dual-use design as a regional emergency and pandemic response center, reinforcing its importance as critical infrastructure for Jackson County. This multi-purpose functionality requires thoughtful operational planning, adaptability, and strong coordination with public agencies.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of sports programming. Responsibilities include planning, facilitating, and operating all youth and adult local sports programming. This position has strong emphasis in relationship building skills with community, youth athletes, coaches, and parents. The role requires personal drive, determination, and hard work in a fun, fast-paced environment.
Additional responsibilities include facilitating relationships with events rights holders to maximize events and drive tournament and event traffic to the facility. Could include developing self-operated sports tournaments and events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop the seasonal local sports calendar that works within the expected season and calendar.
  • Build relationships with media, hotels, convention contacts, youth and adult sports associations, civic organizations, etc. to promote leagues, camps, special events, open play, and tournaments.
  • Develop and organize group outings, special events and tournaments and manage communication between departments to help ensure coordination of activities. Maintain positive relationships and communicate clearly, tactfully, and persuasively with employees, customers and outside contacts as applicable. Ensure that all employees, especially customer contact personnel, fully understand all pertinent details in order to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor facility activities and make recommendations to improve customer service and/or operational efficiencies.
  • Represent the Company in meetings and/or presentations with various clients, municipalities, and other outside agencies regarding the marketing related plans and strategies.
  • Review and analyze internal and external market information, which reflects customer purchase, usage, and satisfaction with Company products and services. Monitor and track results of marketing and sales efforts, analyze budget variances and recommend revised action plans to achieve budgeted goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to marketing and youth and adult sports publications and organizations.
  • Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related marketing and sales reports.
  • Cross train other key staff members regarding the general sales process and important components as appropriate to facilitate the overall success of the team.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

Qualifications:
  • BA or BS degree preferred.
  • 5 years applicable sports league or tournament management experience, preferably in the youth sports or recreation industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management, marketing, sales, public relations and community relations.
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.

May supervise sports operation and/or direct staff.
