Job description

The Public Relations Manager for the SMX World Championship will be part of the Corporate Marketing Corporate Communications Team. This individual must be highly organized, a self-starter and have experience in sports public relations and media. The Public Relations Manager will assist in directing all public relations and communications efforts for SMX in all markets within the Feld Entertainment portfolio. Overall duties include managing public relations campaigns, media relations, creating public relations assets, and dealing with team management and athlete relations.
Essential Job Functions
  • Assist in coordinating the overall Public Relations efforts for the SMX World Championship.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of publicity materials, including press releases, weekly infographics, media recaps, and online media resources, including developing written materials in support of the SMX World Championship.
  • Assist in identifying media trends and developing tactics to maximize opportunities for the SMX World Championship.
  • Liaise with media, SMX teams and athletes while at events, including written documents for PR activations and logistics.
  • Assist with the execution of race week PR, media days and press conferences, including coordinating and managing all logistics.
  • Responsible for setting up the press box and photo den.
  • Develop written materials in support of the SMX World Championship.
  • Manage ticket requests for press, VIPs and teams/athletes. Manage and approve incoming media and photographer credential requests throughout the season.
  • Manage the daily tracking of the SMX PR budget.
  • Support Corporate Marketing - Corporate Communications team in execution of special PR projects, celebrity, content creator, and influencer events.

Job Qualifications
  • College degree required (degree or related expertise in public relations, journalism, communications, or marketing preferred).
  • 3-5 years' PR experience, preferably in the sports and/or entertainment industry.
  • Strong organizational, project, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, while being fiscally responsible.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build professional relationships and work well with all personality types. Ability to interface with multiple levels of management within and outside the organization.
  • Strong writing skills with demonstrated experience leading PR campaigns and media strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of media relations, influencer engagement, and PR tools, i.e., Muck Rack, Cision, Weverse, etc.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Excel/Smartsheet required.
  • Experience developing reporting dashboards and communications infrastructure preferred.
  • Highly organized with strong project management and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience managing influencer or creator engagement programs preferred.
  • Organization and attention to detail are essential.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented; highly flexible and resourceful.
  • Ability to travel (approximately 40% of the time, with majority occurring in Q1 & Q2).
