Job Summary
Position Title: International Medical Graduate Volunteer/ Intern in New York
Responsibilities
This program/position is tailored for IMGs seeking US Clinical Experience (USCEs). This program does not provide a salary/stipend. We provide a visa invite letter but we do not sponsor any type of visas.
  • Can commit a minimum of 8 weeks, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 PM.
  • Shadow/Observe and assist the providers in day to day task such as taking notes, assisting in history taking and physical examination
  • Perform a variety of tasks to help around the clinic/office assigned by supervisors/providers
  • Review journals and relevant patient cases
  • Join meetings, presentations, and conferences
  • Present an educational topic for the IMG community
  • Participate in food drives and patient screenings in different locations in the Bronx
  • Attend IMG events hosted by NYREACH
  • Responsible to work throughout the various divisions in the New York City area
  • Receive a certificate of completion for volunteer work and a letter of recommendation with Essen Healthcare and NYREACH letterhead based on performance.

There are 2 start dates monthly. Once accepted, you will be assigned a start date based on your availability/preference.
Available specialties to rotate are: Primary Care (IM or FM doctors), Pulmonology, Psychiatry, Sports Medicine, Pain Management, and Urgent Care.
Qualifications
  • Medical Diploma, Graduated from a foreign medical school
  • USMLE Steps not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish a plus but nor required
  • Passion to help others and ensure patients are receiving proper care
  • Willing to dedicate time to serve the underserved populations of New York
  • Willing to commute in the Bronx and different assigned locations
  • Team player with adequate clinical knowledge
  • Must be comfortable with EMR navigation preferably e-Clinical works
  • Computer savvy/ Excel, Adobe, Word, PowerPoint
  • Vaccine certificates for Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, and COVID-19
  • PPD test results within 2 years
  • Must be able to stay in New York City and arrange own flights, accommodations, and expenses.
