Position Overview:

The Senior Manager, Youth Sports Initiatives is responsible for leading the strategy, management, and execution of hockey-focused community and external affairs programming. This role drives impact through cross-functional collaboration, community engagement, and operational excellence, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and brand guidelines.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of hockey-related external affairs programs.
  • Develop strategies to expand access to hockey programming and increase youth participation across DC communities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, schools, nonprofit partners, and local partners.
  • Serve as liaison with District government agencies and points of contact for assigned programs.
  • Represent the organization at community programs, events, and partner meetings.
  • Manage end-to-end execution of programs, ensuring alignment across internal teams and external partners.
  • Submit and supervise Wrike project requests and coordinate across partnerships, marketing, social, production, photography, and game presentation teams.
  • Ensure timely delivery of program elements and a high standard of execution.
  • Submit and manage gameday and program-related graphic requests for marketing assets.
  • Partner with creative teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand standards.
  • Support storytelling efforts that highlight program impact and community engagement.
  • Own and manage program budgets, including forecasting, tracking, and invoice processing.
  • Partner with the District of Play Marketing & Operations Coordinator on budget consolidation and reporting.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources across hockey initiatives.
  • Support central initiatives including business intelligence projects, audience segmentation, and engagement strategies.
  • Use data and insights to inform program development and improve performance outcomes.
  • Contribute to organizational storytelling through program insights and impact reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, community engagement, sports management, or related field.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Wrike or similar platforms).
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial processes.
  • Knowledge of youth sports programming or community-based initiatives preferred.
  • Passion for expanding access to hockey and youth sports.
  • Strategic problem solver with strong execution skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and events as needed.

Pay Range:ย $80k - $90kย USD.
