Job description

This job has both full-time & part-time positions available


Position Title: Sport Interpreter


Term: Sport Season (Winter, Fall, Spring, Summer)

Salary: $500 - $4000 depending on sport

Responsible To: Athletic Director and Coaches


Qualification:

● Certification by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf preferred.

● Must be certified to interpret in an educational setting

● Plans to successfully passes the EIPA written test and successfully completes

the EIPA performance test with a score of 3.5 or above

● Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Insurability


Essential Functions:

❖ Provide student athletes with the same opportunities and experiences as their hearing

peers.

❖ Use of qualified, fluent sign language with adaptability to sports

❖ Travel with team(s)

❖ Attend Practices and Games (home and away)


Responsibilities:

❖ Interpreting (Oral, Cued, Sign and Transcription) services in alignment with sport:

Football, Basketball, Wrestling, or Track

❖ Travel with team(s)

❖ Attend Practices and Games (home and away)

❖ Adapt their service delivery to the cognitive and maturational level of students.

❖ Adhere to IEP directives, objectives, and goals as set by the educational team.


Auxiliary Roles:

❖ Engage in professional development that enhances both skills and theoretical knowledge.

❖ Participate in ongoing training to develop and enhance ethical decision-making.
