Job description

Position Overview
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is seeking Event Interns to support the Event Team for this summer's thirteenth edition of TBT. This 4-week immersive internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in live sporting events, working on projects that directly impact the fan, team, and sponsor experience.
We're looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and curious interns who are eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a wide range of projects. This role provides a behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of live events and the opportunity to see your work come to life on a high-profile stage. Throughout the internship, interns will collaborate not only with the Events Team but also with other internal departments, external vendors, and facility partners. This comprehensive experience will provide exposure to and involvement in various aspects of TBT, including:
  • Athlete Experience: Ensuring a first-class experience for teams and athletes
  • Fan Experience: Creating memorable and engaging event experiences for attendees
  • In-Game Entertainment: Coordinating fan entertainment elements during events
  • Merchandise Planning & Fulfillment: Assisting with product design, inventory, and distribution
  • Operational Logistics: Managing event setups, supplies, schedules, and other behind-the-scenes details
  • Signage & Collateral: Designing and managing materials for on-site branding and communication
  • Sponsorship Fulfillment: Ensuring sponsor deliverables are executed to standard.
  • Supplies & Equipment: Coordinating resources needed for event execution
  • Travel Logistics: Supporting travel arrangements for teams and TBT personnel
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an interest in sports (specifically basketball), be willing to pitch in wherever needed in our start-up environment, and exhibit the following traits:

Schedule & Time Commitment
The internship will run from Monday, July 6, 2026 through Sunday, August 2, 2026. Interns should plan to contribute up to 20 hours per week remotely and extended hours during onsite days. Hours will fluctuate throughout the internship, with increased availability requested during peak event periods.
  • July 6 - July 15 (Remote): Engage in the event strategy, planning & preparation, and project management phases remotely, dedicating up to 20 hours per week.
  • July 16 - August 2 (Onsite): Transition to onsite work in the tournament's host city, contributing to event execution & operations. During this period, interns will be expected to work extended hours during setup and competition days.

Please also note that interns must provide their own lodging and transportation to and from the arena. As candidates progress through the application process, more details regarding specific dates for the on-site portion will be provided.
School Credit
This is an unpaid internship, however, we are committed to providing an educational environment throughout this experience. If your school offers internship credit, we are happy to work with you to ensure that credit requirements are met.
