Driveline Baseball - Hitting Trainer
Locations: Kent, WA, Tampa, FL or Scottsdale, AZ
Duration: Seasonal (3-6 months)
Compensation: Hourly, Rate Dependent on Location
Driveline Baseball, a data-driven player development organization, is seeking a Hitting Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with Driveline's training methodologies and a deep understanding of our evidence-based approach to player development.
The Hitting Coach will work closely with our Hitting Management and Facility Operations Coordinators to ensure seamless integration of all elements of athlete programming and facility wide operations. This role involves daily collaboration with facility staff, trainers, coaches, and athletes to drive development and results.
We're seeking talented coaches from diverse backgrounds who bring expertise in disciplines such as hitting, high performance and training habits. The ideal candidate will:
  • Collaborate effectively with trainers and coaches to design and implement athlete programming at all levels.
  • Demonstrate a passion for helping athletes succeed and reach their full potential.
  • Engage athletes to ensure they're prepared to apply learned skills beyond the gym.
  • Be eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced, high-performance focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement individualized hitting programs based on Driveline's data-driven protocols at all levels.
  • Utilize advanced technologies to assess biomechanics, bat path, batted ball profile, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with our sports science team to optimize training outcomes and advance research initiatives.
  • Operate our state of the art biomechanics lab (Launchpad) for assessments and research.
  • Provide expert coaching and mentorship to athletes ranging from youth (ages 9-13), high school (ages 14-18), college, and professional levels - both in-gym and remotely.
  • Maintain meticulous records and documentation of athlete progress and training data.
  • Contribute to a positive, growth-oriented training environment that fosters continuous improvement.
  • Be adaptable and collaborate seamlessly with Facility Operations Coordinators and staff to ensure smooth daily operations across all locations, including, but not limited to, front desk support as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent "feel". That mix of empathy, common sense and likability that makes people trust you.
  • Minimum of 1 season of coaching experience (baseball or strength and conditioning).
  • Strong familiarity with Driveline's training methodologies, tools and/or any baseball technology either through direct experience or extensive study.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Comfort with frequent physical activity, including hitting, throwing, demonstrating exercises, and hands-on coaching.
  • Creative solutions to unique training limitations. Be a problem solver.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • History of high level leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Progress towards a degree in exercise science, biomechanics, or related field.
  • A history of independent learning. Published work in peer-reviewed journals, preprints, or blog articles. Experience and use of Driveline's open source biomechanics data is a major bonus.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. HitTrax, Rapsodo, TrackMan, Blast Motion).
  • Experienced with content creation tools, videography, generative AI, and related tools.
  • Experience in both hitting and S&C.
