Description:

This on-site position is located in Wilmington, Delaware. The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington is seeking a CYM Sports Operations Coordinator who will work to fulfill the mission of the Office for Catholic Youth, Young Adult, and Family Ministry to foster authentic encounters with Jesus Christ and form young people as missionary disciples through CYM sports programs.


The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30 pm, but may require occasional days or times outside the normal work schedule, as needed.


Essential Functions:

  • In coordination with the CYM Sports Coordinator, direct and oversee the complex operational and logistical strategies for the CYM Sports program and other large-scale diocesan events, ensuring compliance with diocesan standards and policies.
  • Formulate, evaluate, and finalize comprehensive seasonal schedules for sports programs; analyze and resolve parish scheduling conflicts and facility availability constraints aligned with CYM policy.
  • Act as a primary point of contact and advisor for head coaches and parish sport coordinators, independently resolving general sport inquiries, program scheduling, and rules interpretation in sport-specific rules and regulations.
  • Serve as an official, on-site CYM representative at select athletic competitions and championships, exercising autonomous decision-making authority and independent judgment to resolve immediate operational crises and safety incidents.
  • In coordination with the CYM Sports Coordinator, develop, execute, and evaluate marketing logistics and promotional campaigns across all CYM communication channels; strategically manage the CYM and CYM Sports websites and digital assets to ensure accurate program representation.
  • In coordination with the CYM Sports Coordinator, schedule and confirm locations for general preseason and postseason meetings for coaches, committees, and athletic association representatives.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent, plus three years of experience in administering athletic activities or programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computers and ability to use a variety of software, including Microsoft Office/365, CRMs, and email applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, patience, and the ability to maintain composure within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to manage conflict and facilitate resolution.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel throughout the footprint of the Diocese of Wilmington.
    Ability to work evenings and weekends for events occasionally as required.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds, work effectively with people at all levels, and address conflicting points of view, function under pressure, and demonstrate discretion and integrity.
