Job description

OUR WHY:
At All-Star Sports Academy (ASSA) we deliver impact through our mission - "Inspiring and mentoring young athletes to become successful individuals - one game, one lesson, and one player at a time."
The FlightScope Data Analyst Intern plays a critical role in advancing that mission by integrating performance technology into player development and tournament operations. This position provides hands-on experience with sports performance analytics, data collection systems, and athlete evaluation tools using FlightScope technology.
This is an ideal opportunity for candidates interested in sports analytics, performance technology, player development, or operations within the sports industry. Interns will gain practical experience operating performance tracking systems, managing player data, and communicating measurable insights to coaches and athletes. This internship is designed for students available to work throughout the academic and calendar year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for overseeing and operating FlightScope performance tracking systems during practices, showcases, camps, and tournament events.
Technology & Data Operations
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate FlightScope units (hitting and pitching environments).
  • Ensure accurate capture of performance metrics including (but not limited to):
    • Exit Velocity (Avg/Max)
    • Launch Angle
    • Carry Distance
    • Spin Rate
    • Pitch Velocity
  • Troubleshoot device connectivity and calibration issues in real-time.
  • Sync and manage player profiles within the FlightScope ecosystem.
  • Assist in exporting and organizing player performance data.
  • Create and distribute player data summaries or performance cards for coaches and athletes.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate player rosters within the FlightScope platform.
  • Assist with transferring roster data from internal systems (e.g., Playbook) into FlightScope.
  • Compile data reports for coaches to support player development conversations.
  • Track longitudinal data to monitor player progress across multiple readings.
Event & Operational Support
  • Assist with logistical setup and breakdown of data stations at events.
  • Communicate clearly with coaches, players, and parents regarding the data collection process.
  • Ensure all data sessions run efficiently and on schedule.
  • Uphold ASSA brand standards and represent the academy professionally.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred (Not Required):
  • Experience with performance tracking systems (FlightScope, Rapsodo, TrackMan, etc.)
  • Background in baseball or softball
  • Basic understanding of Excel or data management tools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • May be required to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • May be exposed to dust, dirt, turf pellets, and hot temperatures
  • Outdoor and indoor working environments
  • Extended standing during data sessions
