Job description

GDR Group is a growing and dynamic IT Managed Services Provider in Irvine, California. We provide business-to-business technology solutions for modern technology-dependent businesses. We are proud to be recognized as a Top Workplaces honoree by the Orange County Business Journal.
Salary:
$72,500 Base Per Year (Plus Commission). * The On-Target Earnings range is ($100-125k per year), which is comprised of the base salary and commission.
Position Description:
The IT Sales Engineer is a client-facing technical role within the Business Development team. This individual partners with the business development team to lead IT discovery, solution scoping, and technical assessments for prospective and existing clients. The right candidate combines strong technical expertise with consultative communication skills, translating complex IT environments into clear, accurate proposals for IT Managed Services Agreements and IT Projects.
Successful IT Sales Engineer candidates will have previous experience with most, if not all, of the following technologies: Microsoft 365 and Azure deployments, Windows Server and Desktop support, and networking configurations (Meraki, HPE Aruba, Fortinet, Cisco).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the business development team in IT discovery for successfully quoting IT Managed Services Agreements.
  • Support the business development team in discovery and scoping of IT Projects for prospective clients.
  • Support the business development team in discovery and scoping of IT Projects for existing clients.
  • Collaborate with the Professional Services team to ensure scoped projects align with company standards and skillsets.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors when outside skillsets are needed to fulfill project requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Professional Services team to continually improve scoping and discovery processes.
  • Conduct on-site and remote technical assessments of client environments, including servers, networks, cloud infrastructure, and end-user computing.
  • Develop detailed and accurate scoping documents, bills of materials, and statements of work that clearly define project objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Present technical findings and solution recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders during prospect and client meetings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client environments, discovery findings, and proposed solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, vendor offerings, and industry best practices relevant to IT Managed Services and project delivery.
  • Requires local travel to client facilities within Southern California and the ability to work on-site at GDR Group's Irvine office.

Requirements
Required Technical Skills:
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, specifically Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Teams Voice, Entra ID, and Intune.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) workloads.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Desktop and Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience with physical networking concepts and hardware, including Meraki, HPE Aruba, Fortinet, and Cisco.

Bonus Skills and Experience:
  • Compliance concepts, including CMMC, HIPPA, PCI, and SOX.
  • Hypervisor technology, specifically Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Physical server infrastructure, including shared storage configurations.
  • Business Intelligence platforms such as Power BI.

  • Familiarity with AutoTask, VSAx, Datto RMM, and other Kaseya tools is a plus.

Salary Description
$72,500 Base + Commission
