Exercise and Sport Science
Purpose of Department:
The Department of Exercise and Sports Science is dedicated to providing a quality education in order to prepare students for their chosen careers or post-graduate studies.
Summary of Position:
William Peace University seeks qualified candidates to teach one or more of the following courses in the Exercise & Sport Science discipline for the Fall 2026 semester:
ESS 300: Kinesiology (MWF 8:00-9:15 am)
PEH 154: Pilates (TTh 9:55-10:50 am) course begins October 14
Instruction will take in-person, on-campus. Please use the supplemental questions included in the application to indicate which of the two (or both) courses you are interested in, qualified for, and are available to teach. This appointment will be from August 19, 2026 to December 10, 2026.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
ESS 300: Kinesiology
4 credit hours
Prerequisite: ESS 110
Course Schedule: MWF 8-9:15 a.m.
The study of musculoskeletal anatomy, physiology, and mechanics in relation to human movement. Special emphasis will be placed on the study of bones, joints, muscles, and their relation to sport and exercise.
PEH 154: Pilates
1 credit hour
Course Schedule: TTh 9:55-10:50 a.m. (begins October 14)
This course is a introduction to the fundamentals and exercises of Pilates mat work. Based on the work of Joseph H. Pilates, students learn this integrated system of movement, breath, and experiential anatomical awareness to increase core body strength, flexibility, and range of motion.
Minimum Qualifications:
โ€ข A Master's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology or closely related field (including but not limited to Exercise and Sport Science, Exercise Physiology, Physiology, or Rehabilitation Sciences)
Preferred Qualifications:
โ€ข A Doctoral degree in Kinesiology or closely related field (including but not limited to Exercise and Sport Science, Exercise Physiology, Physiology, or Rehabilitation Sciences)
โ€ข Certification with ACSM, NSCA, or NASM
