Job description

Overview

Columbus Crew is seeking a Performance Coach to work with our youth academy. Within this role the individual will be directly responsible for planning and implementation of fitness and strength programming for the u15 and u16 academy teams. Furthermore, this role will require an individual who is interested and enthusiastic about overall player development. The individual needs to value strong working relationships and enjoy working with multiple stakeholders. In performing the underlined duties, the Academy Performance Coach will play a key supporting role in the successful implementation of the Academy's mission and One Club mantra. The candidate will also have a vital role in the development, and monitoring, of professional soccer players within Columbus Crew.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure unified approach and One Club philosophy
  • Deliver group and individual warmups under the direction of Manager of Performance
  • Deliver group and individual gym sessions under the direction of the Manager of Performance
  • Collate and organize GPS data to inform decision making processes.
  • Communicate with technical staff about daily & weekly loading as part of the larger periodization framework.
  • Plan and deliver player rehabilitation process in collaboration with other key Medical and Performance staff with a particular focus on end stage RTP
  • Perform player testing, data collection/organization and analysis
  • Assist in the monitoring and contribution of player Individual Physical Developmental Plans
  • Other related tasks as assigned by the Manager of Performance and Academy Director
  • Comply with all club and league medical policies, protocol, and Game Operations Manual

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, or related fields, required
  • Strength and Conditioning certification (CSCS or equivalent), required
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience at Academy or equivalent level
  • Performance and Sports Science certification (CPSS), preferred
  • Experience in using GPS, VALD and other relevant systems, essential
  • Postgraduate degree in Exercise Science, or related fields, preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a high performing environment
  • Available to travel when necessary and work evenings, weekends and holidays with some irregular hours
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
