As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide wide-ranging services to help patients regain their ability to perform normal activities, self-careand responsibilities. In this role, you will focus on maximizing their treatment outcomes andassistingthem in relearning necessary skills to lead independent,productiveand satisfying lives.Most of your work will focus on rehabbing patients with neurological disorders and providing hand therapy.Caring for the organization and department gives you an opportunity toparticipatein special interest groups,committeesand education.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 4:30PM, withflexiblescheduling. This caregiver will be based out of a primary location, but floating between Bath, Green, Stow, Tallmadge, WhitePondandLakemorewill berequired, as needed.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional,cognitiveand/or psychosocial deficits whichimpacttheir abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.

  • Assesspatient'sability tosafely and effectively perform independent living skills.

  • Design theappropriate planof care, including type and frequency of treatment.

  • Implement the treatment plan usingappropriate modalities.

  • Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.

  • Monitor andmodifythe plan of care as needed.

  • Seekconsultationas necessary.

  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.

  • Plan and/orassistwith patient discharge from therapy services and treatmentsetting.

  • Provide information regardingappropriate selection/useof adaptive equipment and support programs.

  • Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, stateregulationsand OT practice standards.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association

  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Experience in a clinical area

  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) or CHT eligible

  • Interest in splinting patients or learning how to splint patients (OT Hand
    Therapy)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.

  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.

  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.

  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.

  • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.

  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.

  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $50.00

Maximum hourly: $50.00
