Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Location: Holiday Inn & Suites Virginia Beach - North Beach
Reports to: Chief Engineer
Basic Purpose:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of hotel facilities, equipment, and systems. This role supports the engineering team in maintaining guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure a comfortable and well-maintained environment for guests and employees. The Maintenance Engineer plays a key role in preventative maintenance programs, responding to work orders, and assisting with property improvements while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.
Essential Functions:
1. Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance requests from guests, staff, and management.
2. Maintain mechanical rooms and equipment areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
3. Perform daily inspections of public areas and facilities to identify and address maintenance concerns.
4. Conduct repairs and maintenance for guest rooms, public areas, and administrative offices.
5. Assist in implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs for hotel equipment and facilities.
6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks.
7. Ensure maintenance projects are completed efficiently and in accordance with company standards and specifications.
8. Collaborate with front office and housekeeping teams to address maintenance issues that impact guest experience.
9. Complete required reports, work orders, and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
10. Assist with renovation, remodeling, and construction projects as needed.
11. Maintain compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and applicable building codes.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related field preferred.
Experience:
1. Two to five years of practical experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related engineering field preferred.
2. Experience with hotel or hospitality maintenance operations strongly preferred.
3. Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and building systems operations.
4. Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems.
