An exclusive opportunity for students participating in Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications Study Away programs in New York City or Los Angeles for the Fall 2026 semester.

A part-time internship where you'll work with a Spectrum News team, contributing to meaningful projects while learning how journalism comes together in some of the nation's most influential media markets. Your schedule will be organized around your academic program requirements and business needs.

The Spectrum Internship Experience
You'll join one of our teams, where you will build a strong understanding of reporting, producing, digital content creation, audience engagement, and other areas that align with your interests and career goals.

  • Build connections with team members and senior leaders who can help you better understand our business and what it's like to work in a professional newsroom.

As a Spectrum News intern, you'll have opportunities to spend the semester learning and working alongside professionals in areas that align with your interests and academic focus.

Internship Responsibilities May Include

  • Pitch, research, and develop stories.
  • Assist with live shows, field production, and newsroom operations.
  • Create content for broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms.
  • Learn professional editing, shooting, and writing.
  • Work with reporters, producers, editors, and audience engagement teams
  • Support daily newsroom operations and special projects.
  • Contribute to multimedia storytelling initiatives.
  • Gain Exposure to Multiple Tracks, Including
