Job description

Division Information
The Home & Garden business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. We are a leading supplier of consumer products nationally for the home, lawn and garden, insect and weed control markets. We deliver groundbreaking products of exceptional value and top-notch quality to consumers with our well-recognized brands including Spectracide®, Hot Shot®, Cutter®, Repel®, Black Flag®, Garden Safe®, EcoLogic® and Liquid Fence®.
Job Summary
This role will drive the Brand P&L by providing strategic thought leadership and flawless execution, across all brands and shopper marketing activities within the Home and Garden division, delivering sales, GM and EBITDA targets by brand.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop strategies and in market plans that deliver brand sales, GM and profit targets at or above plan.
  • Work closely with the VP Marketing of Home and Garden and others to create and launch integrated omnichannel marketing plans and growth campaigns.
  • Lead and execute communications development and planning, in conjunction with in house and external agencies, that increase brand awareness, trial and repeat.
  • Manage all aspects of marketing planning, budgeting, metrics, and reporting across the entire marketing ecosystem.
  • Provide customer thought leadership (via a consumer lense) and develop successful go-to-market plans that grow current customer sales fundamentals (distribution, display) and whitespace expansion.
  • Analyze sales, market share, brand health, and profits to uncover growth opportunities and drive marketing ROI; assure that marketing spend is allocated to trackable programs.
  • Foster an environment of optimization, data based decision making and testing n learning.
  • Develop and lead new product launch execution, that achieves trial and financial objectives. Lead EPD innovation (claims/packaging) that drives the business in between NPD launch years.
  • Provide envisioning, energizing and enabling leadership of the marketing team, in the achievement of short/medium term business goals.
  • Foster a positive team approach focused on: ownership, accountability, speed and agility.
  • Attract, retain and build a BIC team for the future, with strong bench strength.

Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Marketing Communications or related field; MBA is a plus
  • 10+ years leading brand / shopper marketing strategy and execution, across portfolio of consumer brands
  • Experience in regulated (EPA/FDA) and/or outdoor seasonal categories

  • Data Based Recommendations: Asks the right questions and analyzes data from multiple sources, to identify the root causes of problems and optimal solutions. Does not get bogged down in analysis paralysis.
  • Customer Thought Leadership: Provides consumer led, thought leadership to customer teams, partnering with key accounts to achieve successful line reviews and flawless in market execution
  • Agility: The ability to work in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work to meet deadlines is essential to be successful in this position.

Work Environment
Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office (Tues-Thursday)
