Position Summary

This position will work with the General Manager to market the venue and events while creating and maintaining relationships with media and promotional partners. The Marketing Specialist will assist in graphic design, advertising, interactive media, promotions, public relations and grassroots efforts for events as assigned.

This role pays an annual salary of $48,470-$60,588.

About the Venue

The Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds is a spacious 45-acre complex that includes various facilities to accommodate a consumer's needs with a variety of venue spaces available. These include the Marvin and Laura Berry Pavilion, two Exhibit Halls, the Conference Center, the Equestrian Center, and the Middletown Meadow. 

Responsibilities
  • Develop and resize graphics for clients' upcoming events including creating graphics to fit all in-house marketing assets.
  • Strategizing and planning various marketing campaigns, researching market trends to determine consumer needs.
  • Conduct research to analyze competitive landscape, customer behavior and create content for marketing campaigns as needed.
  • Initiate and design venue advertising for employment and facility rentals.
  • Communicating campaign deliverables, objectives and timelines to their team while providing instructions for promotion or use.
  • Maximize upcoming events' visibility with placing in-house printed signage and signage provided by clients around entire venue in high traffic areas.
  • Author and distribute press releases as needed. Press release list to be maintained and up to date with media contact list and professional relationships.
  • Planning and managing marketing efforts for trade shows, conferences, events and meetings.
  • Maintaining inventory and directory of marketing materials while coordinating new material creation as needed.
  • Regularly review progress of public relations and marketing efforts through website and social media analytics.
  • Maintain media representative contact information and relationships.
  • Manage and participate in the development and implementation of marketing goals, objectives, policies, and priorities.
  • Design and distribute weekly newsletter.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in marketing, public relations, communications, business or other related field.
  • Prior experience in Marketing or advertising roles such as Marketing Assistant, SEO Specialist or Social Media Coordinator.
  • Strong skills in graphic design and content writing.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of increasingly responsible experience in sales and/or marketing, preferably with a sports facility, convention center, performing arts facility or other multi-purpose public assembly facility.
  • Knowledge of marketing and advertising/sponsorship program development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for representing organizations during media events, product launches, product demonstrations and trade shows.
  • Project management experience and time-managements skills for juggling numerous time-sensitive projects.
  • Familiarity with various marketing platforms and channels, including social media, print campaigns, digital marketing and email promotions.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate marketing metrics effectively.
  • High degree of creativity and innovation to develop unique, effective marketing strategies.
  • Market research experience and an understanding of how to identify target audiences.
  • Must be experienced with Website maintenance.
  • Experience with computer software programs used for keyword research, A/B testing, database management and content creation: Microsoft office applications and word processing skills required, as well as spreadsheets, database, presentation, graphic design, PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe, Adobe InDesign, Capcut, Tik Tok and internet software.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended (long) workdays and extended numbers of days.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
