About the Job
 

The University of Minnesota Rochester periodically needs adjunct instructors to join our growing team to teach courses in variety of areas, including but not limited to biology, chemistry, math, history, communications, and more. Our goal is to establish a pool of instructors to engage when we have openings throughout our upcoming academic semesters. Responsibilities include developing and teaching courses, creating a welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds, holding weekly "Just Ask" (office) hours for students, consulting with other UMR faculty and colleagues, and participating in other academic activities (curricular meetings, etc.). This is a term, non-tenured, Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) position. Pay is based on a per course, per credit basis. Appointments are typically arranged semester by semester and employment is contingent upon the course meeting its enrollment target. There are no benefits associated with adjunct teaching positions.
This position works in-person in Rochester, MN. This role is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree required for Adjunct Teaching Specialist roles.
  • Doctoral degree required for Adjunct Lecturer roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with active learning pedagogy
  • Experience with team teaching
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR), located in downtown Rochester, serves nearly 1,200 students and recently welcomed its largest class ever in fall 2025. Pay and Benefits
 

Pay Range: $1,675 per credit hour
