The School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Huntsville campus is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to provide comprehensive psychological assessment, psychotherapy, education, and clinical supervision services within an academic healthcare environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and adults with a broad range of mental health conditions.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations utilizing a wide range of standardized assessment instruments and clinical methods. Assessments may include, but are not limited to:
  • Cognitive and intellectual functioning (IQ testing)
  • Learning disorders (LD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Personality and psychopathology assessments
  • Diagnostic clarification and treatment planning for complex behavioral and mental health conditions
2. Provide evidence-based psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, and adults, including:
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Group psychotherapy
  • Family psychotherapy

3. Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health professionals, educators, and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated and coordinated patient care.
4. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams and contribute to the development and implementation of patient-centered care plans.

Academic and Educational Responsibilities
  • Provide teaching, mentorship, and clinical supervision to medical students, Psychiatry residents, Family Medicine residents, and other learners as appropriate
  • Participate in educational activities, including didactic instruction, case conferences, seminars, and curriculum development.
  • Contribute to the academic mission of the institution through clinical education and professional development initiatives.

Scholarly Activity
  • Interest or experience in clinical research is highly desirable.
  • A record of scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and participation in grant-funded research, is considered a significant asset but is not required.
  • Opportunities may be available to collaborate on ongoing research projects and academic initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited program.
  • Completion of an accredited internship in Clinical Psychology.
  • Licensed or license-eligible Clinical Psychologist.
  • Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment and evidence-based psychotherapy across the lifespan.
  • Strong interpersonal, teaching, and collaborative skills.
