Job description

This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

Are you ready to assist in planning, forecasting, and implementing highly complex network systems? As a Network Engineer III at Spectrum, you will design protocol compatibility standards, develop network enhancements, recommend improvements, and be responsible for implementing network architecture and designs. This Network Engineer will act as a technical project manager, driving cross-functional collaboration and managing multiple project timelines, priorities, and tasks by bringing effective time management skills to the table.


How You’ll Make an Impact 

  • Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering
  • Integrate and schematically depict communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations
  • Evaluate new products, perform network problem resolution
  • Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards
  • Develop and implement approved methods of procedure
  • Design and establish protocol compatibility standards, develop and implement network enhancements and make recommendations for improvement
  • Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization
  • Provide escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendors
  • Work on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
  • Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum 


Required Qualifications 


Education 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience  

Experience 

  • 5+ years data network experience  

Skills 

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language 
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications like Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated in-depth data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport) 
  • Ability to work in a team environment, perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly 
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols 
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in network design, network architecture, network protocols, network topology, network devices, and network appliances
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations. 
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio  

Preferred Qualifications 


Education 

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) 
  • Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
  • Juniper JNCIP – SP or ENT

  • Cisco CCNP Service Provider or Enterprise

  • Nokia Nokia Network Routing Specialist II (NRS II)
